I have had numerous problems with my blog since school has started but now have most of the kinks straightened out.  I'm happy to be blogging again and able to update you on our art and music class!  This first 9 weeks of school we have focused on art.  The kids have totally amazed me at what they can do!  We have some amazing artist here at FES!  Everything that we have done to this point is in preparation for our first ever art show.  Now that the 9 weeks are coming to a close, panic is setting in.  I wanted a nice assortment of artwork and have been selective as to which piece each child will be showing off.  My plan was to have the intermediate art show on Parent Teacher Conference night .  However, i dont' have an art piece yet  for each student.  We are finishing up several projects so I'm keeping my fingers crossed that PTC night will still work out.   I'll keep you posted on the art show date......

I'm back!

The skinny from Mrs. Beth.....
Can you believe it??  I'm switching gears this year and will be teaching Art & Music! I have taught Kindergarten for the past 10 years and have accepted a new role as the Art & Music teacher.  Kindergarten is my passion but i love Art almost as much!  I'm really looking forward to this new chapter in my life and trying something different.  I have been busy this summer working on Art lessons for all the sweet kiddo's at FES and have chosen a Christmas musical as well.
As with anything new, this year will be a learning experience for me.  How long art lessons will take, organizing and merging TWO curriculums, a new classroom, figuring out how to continue our tradition of great musicals, the list really goes on and on.  There is a key for me getting all of this down pat....PARENTS!!  I need your help, seriously!  If you are willing to help me cut things out, prepare an Art Show, help with props for the musical, etc,  please LET ME KNOW!  If you play an instrument, let me know that also!  I would love for you to come in and share.  There is only one of me and over 300 students, so if you would like to be involved, let me know!!!  I need your help:)

I am working on a page that outlines some of the art projects that we will focus on this school year.  As for now, i have it broken down into grades. I'm a little apprehensive about posting it because; like i said earlier i have no good gauge of how LONG these projects will take.  We may quickly breeze through what i have planned or only get half of them done.  So, please bear with me and keep in mind that this is all new for me. As far as music goes, we will begin practicing for the musical in October.

If you have any questions or comets, please feel free to post or email me.  Thanks so much and i look forward to a creative year!!
